Emu Proteus Vx Vst-plugin

I have recently started delving into music production and have been currently messing around with the Reaper DAW and Ableton Live 9 Lite. I installed proteus VX (a virtual instrument available here: http://www.creative.com/emu/proteusvx/) and prefer the sound presets it gives over those offered with the default Ableton library. Unfortunately, I can't get it to work with Ableton. Any help on how to get the software to recognize the application as a vst plugin would be much appreciated.
Things to note:

2.proteus works in reaper 3.other plugins I have installed that are much more current than Proteus VX work with Ableton things I have tried: 1. Scanning multiple different folders using Ableton's scan feature (scanned plugins and folders containing anything to do with proteus vx) 2. Proteus X by E-MU is a Virtual Instrument and a Virtual Effect Audio Plugin for Windows. It functions as a VST Plugin. Plug-in, App & Soundware Format (s). For some reason I can not get the EMU Proteus VX to 'stick' when I try to add it as a VST instrument (free download by the way at www.emu.com). I click on 'Add VST plugin' and it finds the Proteus.dll just fine. It just will not load into the Direct X Plugin window. I am a little new at this this so any help would be appreciated. Although Proteus VX does not have the extensive editing capabilities of Emulator X3, it does offer 16 continuous controllers for each preset.

Proteus Vx Library

2. I have tried looking into exporting the files into a format Ableton can read but after some quick research found that the proteus Vx software sound banks are protected and can't be converted
3. Launching Proteus Vx in different compatibility modes
The only possible solution I can Think of is to find a way to route reaper through to play on Ableton Live.
Any help on how to solve this issue would be much appreciated.
